MH Outlanders Gacha Guide
Yes, MH Outlanders is a gacha game, but only for Adventurers and Buddies. Weapons and armor come from hunting. The SSR rate is 0.6%, an SSR is guaranteed within 90 pulls, and a limited Adventurer is guaranteed within 120.

Is MH Outlanders a gacha game?
Yes. You spend contracts on recruitment banners to get new Adventurers and Buddies, or extra copies to make them stronger. The core Monster Hunter loop sits outside this, because you still hunt monsters and craft your own weapons and armor. Your Fated Adventurer can use every weapon, so you can play without relying on pulls.
Game8 also notes an energy system that you use for rewards that level characters and Buddies. Starting hunting quests costs no energy, and neither does hunting monsters you find in the field. That keeps core hunting free of the usual stamina limit. Energy mostly affects how quickly you can power up.
Banner types at a glance
There are four banner types, and each has its own use. The rates and pity below come from Game8, and both videos we reviewed match its main numbers.
| Banner | Currency | Pool | Pity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Featured | Featured Contracts | Limited Adventurer rate-up | SSR within 90, featured within 120 |
| Rotating | Standard Contracts | One Standard SSR rate-up | SSR within 90, featured within 120 |
| Standard | Standard Contracts | Adventurers and Buddies | SSR within 90, select 1 SSR at 300 |
| Beginner | Standard Contracts | Standard SSR Adventurers | SSR Adventurer within 50 |
Ray How To Gacha says Featured banners run for about a month, and that rotating banners last 28 days. A limited Adventurer does not move into the Standard pool afterward. If you miss one, you have to wait for a rerun, and that wait is to be confirmed. EODMobile confirms Standard and limited pools stay separate.
SSR rates
The base SSR rate is 0.6% on every banner. On Featured and Rotating banners, half of that goes to the featured SSR at 0.3%. Other SSRs share the rest at a very low rate each. Game8 lists a combined rate, including pity, of 1.6063% for standard results and 1.0709% for the featured SSR.
| Rarity | Banner | Base rate | Combined with pity |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSR | Featured and Rotating | 0.6% | 1.6063% standard, 1.0709% featured |
| SSR | Standard | 0.6% | 0.9179% Adventurer, 0.6884% Buddy |
| SR | All | 9.4% | 14.3105% |
| R | All | 90% | 84.0832% |
An SR is guaranteed every 10 pulls. R results are Buddies. Ray calls the 0.6% rate low compared with other gacha games. Plan on reaching pity rather than hoping for an early pull.
How pity works
There are two separate protections on Featured and Rotating banners, and they are easy to mix up. The first is 90-pull pity, which guarantees an SSR. That SSR has a 50% chance of being the featured unit. If you lose that 50/50, your next SSR on a Featured banner is guaranteed to be the featured character.
The second is a one-time guarantee at 120 pulls. It gives you the featured Adventurer outright if you still do not have them. EODMobile describes 120 as the worst case for a given character. Save that number as your real target.
What carries over
This is the part that catches most players out. Your 90-pull count carries over to the next Featured banner, and so does your lost 50/50 guarantee. The 120-pull count does not carry over. Each new banner starts it again from zero.
Ray also warns that the 120 guarantee disappears once you pull the featured character. Ray reached 114 pulls, got Midori, and lost the guarantee, so it did not give a second copy. Do not plan on it as a free duplicate. If you want more than one copy, budget for it separately.
Carrying over can help you on the next banner. Ray's example is a lost 50/50 on Midori's banner with a high pull count. When the next limited unit arrives, you might need only 60 or 70 pulls to get them. It only helps if you plan for it, though.
Standard banner: what to know
Reaching 300 pulls on the Standard banner lets you pick one SSR from the pool, one time only. Ray advises against choosing Luka or Pyro, because you can get both for free. Pick someone you do not already have. Characters should come first because they affect fights far more than Buddies.
Buddies and Adventurers share this banner, so an SSR at the end of a long pull run can be a Buddy. Game8 adds one safety net: if your last two SSRs were Buddies, the next SSR will be an Adventurer. Past that 300-pull selection, Ray does not rate this banner highly. The Rotating banner is usually the better use of Standard Contracts if you want a specific unit.
Sources disagree on Buddies. Pocket Gamer reported that Buddy gacha was removed after the second closed beta, but that article predates launch. Game8 and Ray both show Buddies in the Standard banner, so we follow them. Ray says you cannot get Buddies on the Featured banner.
Beginner banner: do this first
The Beginner banner is the best value for new accounts. A 10 pull costs 8 Standard Contracts instead of 10, for up to 50 pulls and 40 contracts in total. An SSR Adventurer from the Standard pool is guaranteed by the 50th pull. Only Adventurers can appear as SSRs here.
The banner appears as you progress the story, so EODMobile warns against spending everything on the Standard banner first. A brief tutorial pull may come earlier, but keep the rest. Spend your Standard Contracts here before anywhere else. If the result is poor, this is also when some players reroll.
Contracts, Rutacoins and vouchers
Standard Contracts and Featured Contracts are the two pull currencies. EODMobile notes that the red Featured tokens are the valuable ones, not the gold Standard ones. You can buy both with Rutacoins, and Game8 recommends spending Rutacoins on Featured Contracts only. Quests and game modes also reward contracts and Rutacoins the first time you clear them.
Every pull also gives Supply Vouchers. One SSR gives 100 Special, one SR gives 20 Special, and one R gives 20 Standard. You can exchange them in the shop for items, contracts and even Buddies. Check this shop whenever you finish a pull session.
There is a separate cosmetic wheel that uses bell tokens bought with premium currency. It gives skins and other items, and it has no effect on Adventurer pity as far as our sources show. EODMobile likes its value if you want cosmetics, but exact prices are to be confirmed.
Is it free-to-play friendly?
Game8 says yes, especially when you are starting out. Early rewards are generous, and one event gives a free SSR Adventurer. Those first-clear rewards will run out as you progress, though. Your Fated Adventurer means you can still enjoy all the content without worrying about the gacha.
How many pulls to save
Save 120 Featured Contracts before you commit to any limited Adventurer. That covers the worst case, as both videos advise. If you have a lost 50/50 guarantee, about 90 is enough. Do not start a limited banner you cannot finish, because the 120 count will not follow you.
